A guide to the rituals our planners incorporate to make your Haldi deeply meaningful and culturally rooted.
Fresh turmeric, sandalwood paste, rose water and milk are blended into a sacred paste. Our planners arrange traditional puja thalis with diyas, flowers and incense for the ritual.
The ceremony begins with the eldest family members applying haldi first as a blessing. Our photographers ensure these precious elder-blessing moments are beautifully documented.
A joyful circle forms — family, cousins, friends — each applying haldi with love. Our entertainers keep the dhol beats going and the energy alive throughout.
The bride/groom steps into the flower tub for a cleansing floral shower — marigolds, rose petals and holy water poured by family. One of the most photographed moments of the day.
A coconut is broken by the bride's or groom's brother as a protective ritual, followed by a puja to seek blessings from ancestors for a happy married life.
The ceremony ends with a marigold garland exchange between the couple (if together) or a farewell garland, followed by a joyful Haldi feast for everyone.
"The marigold canopy Marigold Dreams created was breathtaking — every photo looked like a fairytale. Our guests are still talking about the flower tub!"
"Turmeric Tales handled everything — decor, dhol, catering and photography. We didn't have to worry about a single thing. It was the most fun morning of my life!"
"The same-day Instagram reel Yellow Bloom made was viral within hours! We got 50,000 views. The photos were emotional and so beautiful — we will treasure them forever."
Ask any wedding planner who has been in this industry long enough, and they will tell you the same thing: the Haldi morning is where weddings actually begin. Not at the mandap, not at the reception — earlier, messier, and far more real.
"Turmeric paste on everyone's clothes. A grandmother whose blessings nobody asked to record but the photographer caught anyway. A cousin who went in fully dressed and came out looking like he fell into a marigold farm. That is a Haldi function."
The Haldi ceremony is a pre-wedding ritual in which turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom by family members, typically one to two days before the wedding. The paste — called Pithi in some communities — is prepared from raw turmeric, sandalwood powder, rose water, and sometimes besan or mustard oil depending on regional custom.
The ritual purpose is purification. Turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic tradition for thousands of years — it brightens the skin, reduces inflammation, and carries genuine antibacterial properties. On a more human level, it is a protective gesture: the family wrapping the bride or groom in something ancient and loving before sending them into their new life.
